Your donation will help to support the educational and research work of Butser Ancient Farm, enabling us to maintain and develop the site and feed the farm animals! Butser Ancient Farm is a not-for-profit organisation that has been running for almost 50 years, sharing what life may have been like from the Stone Age to the Saxon periods to school groups, students and visitors. The Farm works with a wide range of archaeologists and universities to conduct research in order to further archaeological understanding.
Butser also look after ancient rare-breed animals helping these critically endangered breeds to thrive, and provides a safe site for ancient crops and plants working with the species recovery trust.

Our videos cover the diversity of life at Butser Ancient Farm, from our experimental archaeology work, the ancient skills still practiced on site and the animals and natural world surrounding the farm. The time periods we cover span the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman and Saxon periods.

Butser Life videos showcase the experimental work and day to day life at the farm

Ancient Skills show the processes behind traditional crafts and technologies such as flintknapping, thatching and treewrighting.

Roundhouse Discussions give the archaeological context to our projects through in depth discussions with guest archaeologists and other partners.

Mindful Moments allow you to sit back and escape to the peace and beaty of the farm from wherever you may be.

We will be regularly adding videos giving behind the scenes access to the ongoing projects at the Farm and our catalogue of video content will be constantly expanding over time. Our current projects include building a Bronze Age house in partnership with veterans from Operation Nightingale, and finishing our second 7th Century Saxon Hall construction.

We’re lucky to have onboard Hollie Osborn, a highly accomplished producer and director, and the face behind the camera capturing all our incredible video footage. Hollie has worked on a variety of shows including the Attenborough series ‘Africa’, BBC One’s ‘The Farmers’ Country Showdown’, and Channel 5’s ‘Funniest Pets at Christmas’, (so she should have no problem handling our rare Manx Loughtan Sheep). Hollie’s expertise and keen eye are what allows us to bring the essence of Butser onto your screen, into your home, wherever that may be
